Epiphany

Epiphany commemorates the manifestation of Christ as the son of God and, occurring as it does twelve days after Christmas, represents the adoration of the Magi for the child Jesus. Originally, Epiphany signaled the start of the pre-Lenten carnival season, and the prior evening is known as the Twelfth Night -- the evening before the twelfth, and last, day of the Christmas season.

The holiday is celebrated on January 6th by the Catholic, Eastern and Anglican churches.
