Idus), and fall on the 15th of March, May, July and October, and the 13th of the other months. But of all of these, the one that has stuck through the ages are the Ides of March. It was on this day in 44 BC that Roman general and dictator Julius Caesar was attacked by jealous rivals in the Senate and stabbed to death, exclaiming "et tu, Brute?" as he recognized his close friend Marcus Brutus among the attackers. Thus spake Shakespeare ... "Beware the Ides of March!"
