Mathematics has always been the base science for understanding our world. Mathematical equations have aided in splitting the atom, harnessing electricity, developing every technology we know of, and unlocking the secrets of the universe. But not even this most objective, truthful, logical of all sciences is safe from the putrid groupthink of the Left.

In a stunning display of hubris and unethical behavior, the Mathematical Association of America, a professional association of high school and university teachers, has announced that math is racist. “It is time for all members of our profession to acknowledge that mathematics is created by humans and therefore inherently carries human biases,” the MAA proclaimed in a press release earlier this month. “Until this occurs, our community and our students cannot reach full potential.”

Furthermore, the MAA has noted that only by embracing Critical Race Theory (CRT) can the hopelessly racist white masses hope to be purified. Claiming that CRT is an “established social science inquiry which is grounded in decades of scholarship,” the MAA has now fallen in league with the wave of leftist-controlled organizations spouting this divisive rhetoric. The organization has also come out against President Donald Trump’s executive order banning the teaching of CRT in federal “diversity” training.

So, the nation’s top math teachers have agreed to reject thousands of years of mathematical science in favor of a crackpot racist theory that seeks to pin all of society’s ills (and a few made-up ones) on white people. It would be a laughable idea if it weren’t so scary. Unfortunately, it gets worse.

Members of academia are embracing the twisted messages lampooned in George Orwell’s 1984. Late last summer, a doctoral student at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health posted a message on Twitter proclaiming that 2+2=5. For those who have not read Orwell’s prescient classic, this statement in the book was a key demonstration of the government’s power over the people, proving that even the laws of nature and science can be subverted to the government’s will. Harvard proudly retweeted his message as a reward for his misguided efforts.

It’s a dangerous time when people can look at Orwell’s book and nod in agreement — with the totalitarians. 1984 was meant to be a warning against totalitarianism and the corrupt power of an all-pervasive government, yet the modern Left wields it like an instruction manual. Seeing America’s sports leagues and entertainment companies falling under the spell of socialist dogma is one thing, but when the people who are charged with the scientific education of our youth succumb to this claptrap, it’s frighteningly clear that we have reached a tipping point.

It should now be obvious to everyone in America just what is in store if we do not stand up to the divisive actions of the Left. The subversion of our way of life, down to the way we calculate numbers and figures, is well under way. The socialist revolution is gaining momentum and those who seek to bury our republic are emboldened like never before. How we respond may be up for debate, but respond we must.
