Martin Luther King Assassinated
Dr. Martin Luther King was shot and killed today in 1968, on the balcony of his motel in Memphis, TN. Several witnesses among his entourage were able to pinpoint the source of the shots, and one James Earl Ray was subsequently arrested for the crime. Ray's motives were never made clear, though one is unavoidably drawn to the obvious racial conclusions. Many people on both sides of the racial divide have never been fully satisfied that the whole story has been uncovered. King's untimely death sparked riots in many cities, and left the Civil Rights movement without his sense of focus and fairness.
